Now Seeking Recipes for the Breasts & Fruit Companion Cookbook! 

In honor of the beautiful and wondrous bounty of fruit on the planet, of which a small amount are featured in the Breasts & Fruit Collection, I am excited to announce the creation of a cookbook that will feature fruit-based, fruit-forward, and fruit-inspired recipes. 

If you have an unpublished fruit-focused recipe that you would be willing to donate to this cookbook, which will be sold as a Breast Cancer Research Fundraiser, please do so! 

The Fruits in the Collection Include:

Citruses: limes, lemons, grapefruits 

Berries: blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries

Stone Fruits:pluots, apricots, nectarines, peaches, cherries, plums

Veggie-esque Fruits: avocados, toybox tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes 

Melons: watermelon,  cantaloupes

Tree Fruits: apples, pears, pomegranates, persimmons, figs

Grapes: chardonnay and  merlot

The cookbook, as opposed to the art-book, will  feature PG rated photos, easy-to-follow recipes, beautiful photos of the prepared dishes and a few inspirational stories about why these recipes were chosen. 

The fruits in the current collection were  all organically grown, and all (except for the blackberries) were grown within a 100 miles of Oakland, CA. Most were purchased at Oakland or Berkeley farmer's markets, and it was at the Lake Merritt Farmer's Market where the idea to do a cookbook was first born. 

The day I was shopping for the Heirloom tomatoes,  two fellow shoppers and I were choosing our own preferred tomatoes from a large bin. As we sifted and sorted I asked what they were going to do with their marvelous finds.  One shopper replied that she was going to make a simple tomato & basil bruschetta to eat out under the stars that night. The other said he was making his grandfather's tomato sauce that he jars and sends to his siblings every year. Needless to say we all had a good chuckle when I told them my chosen tomatoes were going to be in a very special photo shoot. 

Hearing just two different ideas for how to prepare one food,  I re-realized how special cooking is; how cooking and the foods we create can tie us to the past, can revitalize us and how they can bring us closer to what we're putting in our bodies.

And there is the connection again: food and bodies. How incredible is the variety of shapes, textures, sizes and details that make up each? So incredible! Incredible enough that I wanted to showcase their implicit beauty in my chosen art form of photography.

But as cooking is my hobby, not my art, I want to showcase tried and true recipes from YOU! 

Criteria for Recipe Donation: 

The recipe MUST be an original --please don't just do an online search & poach someone else's creative work (a consent form will be signed attesting to it's originality).

The recipe should feature at least one of the fruits in the collection.

The recipe should use standard (as opposed to metric) measurements.

The recipe should have incredibly explicit and step-by-step instructions that "home-cooks" can follow without a culinary degree.
